The Kindle is devilish gadget for those of us who are manic. I was pretty unthrilled when I started using it-it felt clumsy in my hands, and the side buttons are placed a bit too low. Plus, I did not feel like I "owned" the books I was reading, perceiving the small screen as a barrier between the text and me. Also, I found the "experimental" features (text-to-speech, browser) to be just an inch above joke level. Not to mention the near impossibility of browsing through a book (unless you know the "location". However, after about 24 hours I started to get into it and bought more books than I can read in six months; "start reading this book in under a minute," as Amazon suggests, is quite a temptation for the spur-of-the-moment customers like me. Now I actually prefer to read on kindle. Weird.
One of the books I have downloaded is a muscle-obsessed collection of stories. So over the top it is a pleasure to read.
